vinefi

Affordable user operated network segment;
open source hardware and software;
large span with directed WiFi;
battery option for off-grid deployment;
dual battery for uninterrupted battery replacement;
local WiFi AP at any node.

Use case: point-to-point

Broadband Internet is available in the village (point 1) but is not available at a farmhouse (point 4). A vinefi segment is built using 4 nodes:

An operator charges 2 battery packs every night and replaces the exhausted battery pack in node 2 and 3. Since vinefi features two battery bays, this can be done without interrupting the service.

Use case: point-to-area

Broadband Internet is available in the village (point 1) but is not available at an industrial area in a few buildings. A vinefi segment is built using 4 nodes:

Nodes 3 and 4 are arranged so that their Access Point WiFi covers all buildings where WiFi access is required.

An operator charges abattery pack every night and replaces the exhausted battery pack in node 2.

Use case: area

Broadband Internet is available but the area to cover is too large for a single WiFi router. It is not feasible to simply use multiple Access Points because wiring (for the power and/or ethernet) can not be done.

Node 1 is installed in the office building or tent where some sort of internet uplink and electric power is available. Nodes 2, 3 and 4 are dispersed so their combined Local Access Point WiFi coverage over the target area is acceptable.

An operator charges 3 battery packs every night and replaces the exhausted battery packs in node 2, 3 and 4.
