File formats

We inherited a limited file format and virtually no compatibility.
Note: file format != data model
Since 2016, the new strategy:

• native file format
  • non-positional (named fields)
  • tree structure: subcircuits!
  • VCS-friendly extras
• alien file formats
  • KiCad (2)
  • Eagle (2)
  • HyperLynx
  • Protel/Autotrax
  • ...
• interchange format: tEDAx
  • design for ease of implementation
  • small projects' dev time deprivation
  • can be explicit about common minimum
  • truely free specification and example code
