genxproj - auto-installation in user's home
This installation method:
- does not require root
- installs genxproj in the current user's home directory
- compiles and installs all "custom" dependencies automatically
- results in a fully usable installation for the given user
Requirements
The following requirements have to be met before the installation starts:
- OS: must be Linux (genxproj is not portable - it works only on Linux and X11)
- required development tools: gcc, GNU make, a command line svn client
- required common libs (recommended to be installed from distro packages):
- libpng-dev
- xlib-dev
- lua5.1-dev
installation procedure
- svn checkout svn://repo.hu/genxproj/branches/nodep
- cd nodep
- ./configure
- edit Makefile.conf if you don't like the default installation path; all files will be installed under this directory.
- make
- make install
- make install will print the full path to the script that needs to be
executed to run genxproj. Copy/move this script to a directory
that is on your $PATH, e.g. ~/bin.
- type genxproj in any directory and it will start genxproj; note: will
work only when logged in by the user who made the installation!
uninstallation procedure
Remove the installation path (default was: ~/.genxproj) recursively.
