Hi all,

so it seems the consensus is that we want different file name ending than
the usual pcb/sch while I also want to keep it short (at most 3 characters
after the dot). I've collected all proposals that covered at least board
and schematics and matched these criteria.

How to vote:

There is only one syntax accepted for voting: list your 3 preferred
choices, like "C D A". It must be 3 different of the below list, ordered
by your preference (most preferred first). I will sum votes with weight
13, 5, 2.

Please do NOT write comments, explanations, etc, only the 3 letters. Any
vote not matching the syntax will be ignored. You can vote by replying to
this thread either to the mailing list or directly to me in private. At
the end I will publish anonymized results. The voting will be closed
after 72 hours (3 days) of this mail sent out.

(Fine print: I picked weights to minimize ties, but if there's
still a tie on top, I will simply choose from them. I picked weigths so
that frist preference is overrepresented and 2nd and 3rd preference gives
only slight modification to help breaking ties. So it's basically: write
your preferred one first, then 2 others you can live with in case your
preferred one doesn't win.)

Choices:

A. rcb/rch; symbols could be rym, footprints rfp. So r + second char +
last char of the original, sort of replacing first char instead of
inserting one. So basically you type the same thing, just replace first
char with r. Except for the footprint where we insert r before fp.

B. rpb/rsh; symbols could be rsm, footprints rfp. Same idea, but r + first
char + last char

C. rp/rs; symbols could be ry, footprints rf. So two chars only, r for
ringdove, then one for the purpose. If it's non-natural, "unreadable"
anyway, why not make it also short?

D. bor/sem for board/schematics, sbl/fpt for symbol and footprint (so
using totally different characters/terms only loosely connected -
guaranteed it won't match anything you ever used in this context)

E. pbd/sms for Printed (circuit) BoarD and ScheMaticS, sbl/fpt for symbol
and footprint (first char, a middle char and last char, consistently)

F. rly/rsc; rsy for symbols and rfo for footprints (ly stands for layout)

G. rcb/rsc; rym for symbol, frp for footprint (proposed without
explanation; sounds a bit incosistent)

TIA,

Igor2
