It seems to use HOITEK HE2321U, no datasheet available. The sigrok page 
says it uses a proprietary HID protocol to emulate the same serial reads. 
I guess the only way would be to figure the protocol is to look at the 
code sigrok has.

Maybe getting (or building) a serial adapter and an off-the-shelf 
serial-usb adapter is easier. The schematics shows it's a phototransistor, 
two common transistors and a few resisotrs/caps.
