Thanks for the historical insight! It's always nice to learn ever little piece of the puzzle before a decision. I think the iterative/interactive part never got implemented or at least never got into the official VCS. I see some provisions in the code and API, but no trace of complete implementation ever. I think I am going to remove this part: manual calibration is still possible, and if someone needs an automated process, we can easily write an user script for that, that doesn't have to be ps-specific.
