Yup, pcb-rnd being a unix tool in that sense too is an intentional choice. 
It's not something that a new user can pick up randomly clicking the menus 
and reading the tooltips. (The market of tools that try to do that is 
already crowded by kicad, fritzing and te upcoming new generation of pcb 
editors). Our market is where users first learn a lot but then can do 
things in a much more efficient way for many years to come.
