Subject: | [pcb-rnd] new: footprint guide (doc; RFC) |
Hi all, following the best traditions of our software, the documentation is lagging way behind development. I made another desperate attempt to decrease the gap, by extending the footprint index node: http://repo.hu/cgi-bin/pool.cgi?cmd=show&node=Ifootprint (ah, drop in an ocean!) The new part is the 'How to design footprints' section. Please read it through and tell me if I missed something important. Reminder: the idea of an index node is that it covers a whole topic without going too deep into the details. Details are linked from other pages instead. I wanted this index node to also serve as a checklist: when you are designing a new footprint, including your padstacks, you could just go through each point and check if you didn't forget that. I mean it's real annoying when you figure there's no mask cutout on your terminal when you get back the board from the fab! Best regards, Igor2
