Many times you have to ask to get over "the customer is always right"
as they cuss at you for the rework they do.
I've been there on both sides.

Not really sure why this particular issue is one of opinion.
It is simple physics as far as balancing the thermal mass to prevent
soldering problems.
They can be balanced by design or by accident which is the usual case.
