I started with a single layer names "courtyard", but then realized that I had to use two layers for some parts (mounting screws in my case) so now all my new footprints have at least a single "top-courtyard" layer, but some (well, only one for now but this is going to change) have both "top-courtyard" and "bottom-courtyard", not necessarily identical.
