Indeed, although I've been working on other things since March, I'll be
back to PCB design hopefully soon.

In my case only two boards with pcb-rnd, and one did not use new layer
types at all, but the moderately large (100x160mm) board uses it and 
I now have a library of 40--45 footprints.

polygons to represent the area needed by each component, taking into
account the spacing needed for tweezers and/or pick and place equipment.
 
I started with a single layer names "courtyard", but then realized that
I had to use two layers for some parts (mounting screws in my case) so
now all my new footprints have at least a single "top-courtyard" layer,
but some (well, only one for now but this is going to change) have both
"top-courtyard" and "bottom-courtyard", not necessarily identical.
